CRAssociates, Inc. (CRA), alone among medical services companies, offers an in-house capability to develop turnkey healthcare facilities nationwide at a cost savings to its clients. Our flexible design reflects decades of experience not only in developing and constructing healthcare facilities, but also in managing them. Current construction and operations projects include two large family health centers in Virginia and three new Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCS) in New York State. CRA has over $500 million dollars in fast-track facility development experience.

Our in-house team can construct a new facility or remodel to fit your needs. We have developed more than 40 facility templates ranging from 3,000-100,000 square feet in size to accommodate primary care, hospital care, medical malls, occupational health, and private practice. We also design for special population settings, such as educational institutions and prisons. CRA customizes every project to ensure optimum efficiency and patient comfort within the provider's budget and goals. Our healthcare facilities comply with local, state, and federal requirements, and meet JCAHO standards.
Charles B. Robbins, CRA's Senior Executive Vice President for Facilities Development, has directed the design, construction, and equipment of healthcare facilities for public and corporate providers since 1975. As a Class A contractor, CRA employs managers, estimators, architects, engineers, superintendents, builders, and assemblers to ensure rapid completion of healthcare centers to client specifications. Our turnkey delivery platforms and integrated systems of care can cut provider costs by 30% to 40% on a fast-track basis.
Upon opening of the facility, CRA provides full-time, on-site medical facility start-up and equipment maintenance support. CRA's facilities staff has vast experience in turnkey development of facilities to clients such as the Department of Defense, Department of Veterans Affairs, Bethlehem Steel, Northwestern Wire and Steel, GTE, Broyhill, Smithfield Foods, Chrysler Corporation, and Charter Health Plan and a 10 clinic HMO in the Northeast US.
CRA's three-phase planning and construction process takes each project from concept to ribbon-cutting:

Phase I: Concept. During Phase I CRA's facilities experts meet with the client to establish project elements, including:
- Needs, budget, schedule
- Site selection, acquisition, leasing-sale negotiations (if applicable). And permitting
- Architectural design
- Technical, equipment, furniture, and décor specifications.
Phase II: Construction. Phase II includes on-site work to prepare, build, and/or remodel the facility, including:
- Site preparation
- Interior and exterior construction and/or interior remodeling
- Ground-up/tenant fit out/remodel
- Zoning/use/storm water drainage/turnkey site work
- Equipment and furniture procurement.
Phase III: Completion. To complete the project, CRA will provide:
- Turnkey staging and installation of equipment and furniture
- Arrangement for inspections and certifications
- Negotiation of leases (if applicable)
- Orientation and training of facility personnel
- Planning for opening event and publicity (if desired).
